In 1921 the Northern Gospel Mission was founded as a fundamental, faith Home Missions Society.
It had its beginning under the leadership of Rev. James P. Welliver, who served the Lord as a missionary in Morocco for a term of seven years. When unable to return to Morocco for health reasons, he turned to the needy areas of Northern Minnesota, where he traveled from home to home, village to village, and lumber camp to lumber camp, where he sold Bibles, distributed tracts and preached the Word of God. The Lord also led him in the establishing of a number of chapels among the Indian and white people. In 1945 the Northern Gospel Fellowship was formed to plant churches in Northern Minnesota.
Miracle Bible Camp started in 1969 at Side Lake; it is part of the non-profit organization Northern Gospel Fellowship.

In 1996 Miracle Bible Camp moved to its current location on Woman Lake.
In 2024, Miracle Bible Camp celebrated its 55th anniversary!

As a non-denominational ministry, we welcome campers from all religious backgrounds. Our summer camps are at the heart of our existence offering fun-filled faith adventures for young people 7 – 18 years of age. We are funded by visionary individuals, committed churches and user fees.
