This is a guest post written by an MBC camper. It is based on an actual event, but a bit of creative license has been taken. Enjoy!
One night, a group of teens became restless, and decided to invent a game to employ their extra energy. The idea: Jousting.
It didn’t take long, before the dark summer night was filled with their shouts. Excitement ran high! The ruckus was great!
With cries of “Your shield!” and “Your lance!” two of the youths rode at each other, the thundering of their steads growing greater, stronger! They collided and one fell- PLUNK!- off their cabinmates back, and onto the ground. Eye witnesses report that the fallen boy “laughed, got up, and tried again, with a similar result.”
As the game grew more intense, more wished to be on the back of a great stead! The crowd grew! The jousters were many! The tournament had begun! That was the night a great deal of simple, average teens became knights.
It was quite an exciting ordeal, until a skirmish broke out bringing the games to an abrupt end. Many look back fondly on that night, and the tales will long be told of The Night they Became Knights.
