The Mission of Miracle Bible Camp
“We proclaim Him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.” Colossians 1:28
This defines Miracle Bible Camp’s ministry as a Christ-centered ministry. It also reminds us that our ministry is focused on people and their needs. Furthermore, it cautions us that a successful ministry will be one that is wisely, cautiously and carefully planned and carried out. Shallowness and hastiness are not productive for God.
Finally our attention is drawn to the ultimate goal of ministry. We’re not done when a camper accepts Christ as Savior, or when he dedicates himself to live for Him completely, or even when we have provided practical training and motivation for ministry. Our job is not done until those whom we serve (and we ourselves!) are “perfect”, that is, fully mature and doing everything that the Lord intended for us to do.
The Purpose of Miracle Bible Camp
- To win lost persons to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ the Lord.
- To encourage Christians to the service of the Lord Jesus Christ and His Kingdom.
- To strengthen Christian believers in their faith.
- To provide Christian education that is relevant to contemporary life.
- To relate the Christian faith to daily life through a coordinated program which ministers to the needs of the total person.
Miracle Bible Camp Seeks to Serve the Local Church By
- Evangelizing kids (and others as well)
- Offering growth opportunities to young believers
- Providing periodic “correction” and encouragement to struggling believers
- Facilitating intergenerational learning experiences
- Helping kids make life-long friendships, some of which will be “best friends” within the Church
- Providing a venue for fellowship within the church (e.g. church-based family camps and retreats)
- Providing a venue for fellowship with believers of other churches (e.g. camp-directed camps and retreats)
- Providing a venue for women to encourage each other while doing such things as crafting.
- Providing a non-threatening place for men to get together and do “manly” things
- Providing an opportunity for service:
- For families (work days, etc)
- For students as TV’s (LIT’s, assistant/jr. counselors, etc.)
- For young adults as summer staff
- paid summer job
- chance to discover gifts and weaknesses
- resume builder/internship
- discover a ministry calling
- For pastors to connect with kids/youth
- For adults to volunteer (projects, maintenance, office work, etc.). Includes seniors.
- Providing a “non-churchy” place to bring “seekers”
- Providing opportunities to home/Christian schools for “field trips”
- Pointing kids to the Creator through nature education:
- To teach the reasonableness of belief in a Creator while respecting those who disagree
- To teach kids about the creation itself (animals, birds, trees, bugs, water, etc.)
- To teach respect for and stewardship of the environment (without worshipping it)
- To spark “parables” and lessons that can be illustrated by the birds, animals, etc.
- Getting people of all ages off the couch and out into God’s creation!
